STEAM Week Review by Mr Matthew Paris

Last week all of our students form Reception class to Year 10 celebrated and investigated Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics through visits, guest speakers and scientific investigations (CREST), during the School's STEAM week.
The Early Years students investigated ‘brilliant bubbles’, friction and went on a Rainbow Walk.Students from both the Prep and Senior school visited Wolverton’s state-of-the-art recycling and energy recovery centre and learnt about what we should recycle and what happens to all the rubbish that used to go to landfill. These students also followed a CREST program investigating such topics as ‘the properties of chocolate’ and ‘harvesting and conserving water’ and successfully created some creative solutions to the problems posed to them.
On Thursday every student in the school got to spend time with the RS STEM Ambassadors onboard Titan. If you have not heard about this, Titan is a big r…

Three is the Magic Number - Webber Independent Girls' Rounders Team Place Third

Thursday 21st June
Match Review by Mrs K Willis

On Thursday evening our star performers headed into their first game against Lord Grey, they fielded well but couldn't seem to connect with the ball and finished the game with a draw of 1-1. The girls had put themselves under pressure to perform, so after a team pep talk they headed into the next two games with more open minds.

Next, the team played Ousedale and Brooklands; they demonstrated their talent and communicated better, which paid off as they won both games. Our final match was against Radcliffe, and although the girls delivered a strong performance they ran out of time to score enough rounders in order to be crowned overall winners.

The team faced Denbigh in the play offs and finished on top form with a very convincing win, playing their best rounders match of evening. A big well done to the team for achieving third place.

The Year 8 rounders tournament took place at Shenley Brook End against ten competing schools.

Batting Them Out of The Ball Park - Another Rounders Win for Webber

Wednesday 20th June
Match Review by Mrs K Willis

On Wednesday afternoon our Year 5 and Year 6 rounders team played a home game against New Bradwell School. The opposition batted first and scored of seven rounders, displaying some great batting and connections. Our team rose to challenge and scored six rounders in the first innings, with a particularly strong performance by William.

With everything to play for in the second innings, Webber worked together as a team, communicating more and showing some excellent fielding skills. New Bradwell scored four rounders, which meant we needed to score five rounders in order to match their score. Our players stepped up their game and delivered six and a half rounders in the second innings...making us the winners!

Well done to William, Emilien, Harry, Ben Reo, Shakir, Daisy, Sofia, Sophia and Georgia who made up the team. Special mention must go to our star batter William, who scored seven and a half of our twelve and a half rounders scored.

Webber Delight at Double Rounders Win

Tuesday 12th June
Match Review by Mrs K Willis

Our Year 7/8 rounders team showed St. Pauls how to play and win with only eight players, in a tightly played game on Tuesday afternoon.

The first innings saw Webber score six rounders, with Sophie’s batting on top form, scoring three and a half of those six. Our excellent fielding prevented St. Paul’s from scoring more than two rounders in the first innings, putting us in a good position ahead of the second innings.

Webber batted again, and this time Jaanvi was our top scorer, achieving two and a half rounders in three bats. St. Paul’s upped their game when batting and managed to score six rounders, with some excellent hits that went too far for our girls to field to fourth post in time.

However, the lead gained in the first innings helped to secure a win, with a final score of 11-8. Well done to Sophie, Jaanvi, Amaya, Vanessa, Akari, Ella, Ruby and particularly to Demi who stepped up to support the team.
