Webber's Winning Tennis Duo Stave Off Competition

Webber Independent School Milton Keynes Win MKSSA Tennis Tournament

Review by Mr Andrew Small

On Wednesday 13th June, Oliver and Harry represented the School in the MKSSA Year 7 Tennis Tournament at Woughton on the Green courts.

There were five teams that entered the round robin style competition. Each school played their opponents in eight minute, timed doubles matches. Webber's first match was a closely played game against Denbigh, where the dynamic duo drew 1-1.

By the second game Harry and Oliver's momentum was in full swing, they challenged Radcliffe and delivered a convincing three game win. In their third game the pair displayed great on court positioning and communication against SBE and secured another win - right on the whistle!

The final match of the competition was against Hazeley Academy; the boys won the toss and elected to serve. It worked to their advantage and they established a 2-0 lead, they needed a 3-0 win in order to claim the joint title along with Denbigh. The last game was intense right up until the final seconds - where Oliver and Harry emerged triumphantly.

Our winning duo represented The Webber Independent School with distinction, a deserved win. Massive congratulations to both Oliver and Harry for the way they played - we are very proud of your accomplishment, well done boys!
